Charsadda:  Provincial General Secretary of ANP Pakhtunkhwa Mian Iftikhar Hussain has said that atmosphere was being created to derail the democratic system and topple the government by unconstitutional means.

Addressing a public meeting in Babara to mark the 66th anniversary of martyrs of Babarra in Charsadda, he said that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf led coalition government had completely failed in addressing core issues of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Mian Iftikhar said that despite serious reservations on the results of the last general elections, ANP accepted the mandate of Pakistan Muslim League-N and PTI.

The meeting was organised in connection with the anniversary of infamous Babara firing incident in 1948 in which over 600 followers of Non-Violence Movement of Bacha Khan were killed.

Eulogising the sacrifices of the martyrs of Babarra, party’s senior leader said on the orders of the then oppressive provincial government, the security forces opened indiscriminate fire on the people, who were carrying out a peaceful rally for the release of Fakhr-e-Afghan Baacha Khan on August 12, 1948.

He said that 650 of the marchers had been martyred while hundreds of others sustained injuries in the incident.
